Barry Place Habitat Restoration in Progress

January 8, 2023

The City of Oakland Public Works Department is removing invasive trees to make room for native plants and trees. Tree removal has been temporarily paused and will resume in Spring 2024.

In the meantime, Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC) will engage in restoration work here at Barry Place, and we invite all local community members to join us!

Restoration activities will include invasive species removal, native species planting and slope stabilization, reconstruction of a creek access pathway, and design planning for a small community parklet at the site's upper area.

Email to get involved in parklet planning, or visit FOSC's Event Calendar to RSVP for an upcoming restoration workday:

  • MLK Jr. Day of Service: Monday, January 15, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  • Saturday, February 17, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  • Earth Day: Saturday, April 20, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
